📽️This stream's featured flick is a silent race drama from 06-06-26, Within Our Gates, directed by Oscar Micheaux. This is the earliest surviving silent film by an African-American director. It is regarded with profound historical significance as a critique of D.W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation (1915) and white supremacist ideology at large. There are difficult themes and depictions in here (i.e. attempted rape, lynchings), so heads up in your viewing.
